Sleeping all day in the bedroom at my parents place Looking back on photos of lost landscapes Mowing the lawn into tidy criss-cross shapes The maple tree grew tall We marked our heights on the wall Inside the basement door Where i fell down the steps into consciousness When I was 4 And the pond sunk low Oh the pond sunk low Sleeping all day on the porch at my parents place Watching cars drive by looking for a familiar face My little brother grew a beard My older brother drinks beer Not liquor stolen from the big box store, not anymore We’ve got nothing to hide Yeah we’re doing just fine, Thank you very much And the finches fly by Yeah the finches fly by And the kids ride by And the cops drive by Oh the cops drive by Sleeping all day in the park near my old neighborhood Hiding from the parents and the kids jumping in the mud I don’t want anyone to know That I’m living back at home That I havent written a poem Or anything good in a while And the finches fly by Bright new leaves block the sky And I’m feeling fine I’m gonna be alright It's gonna be alright And the clouds roll by And the cardinals fly by Oh the cardinals fly by

Kathleen 01:12
Evergreen, unwilting Looking for meaning in rose plastic Looking for answers in a pair of dried up contacts on the counter Searching for solution in the artificial plant aisle of the craft store Going there and remembering the roses on Rose Garden Way All 550 varieties How we went after the park closed and smelled each of them Not wanting to leave any out, Not wanting to walk away not knowing Pink roses implying a silent innocence Yellow petals for jealousy in the harem And large blooms strewn across the river, A trailing perfume guiding lost travelers home And anyway, always looking for answers at the art show Asking the bouncer for answers at a noise show Missing the Black Mass, and finding some truth in that Finally, choosing a new name that doesn’t mean “pure”

A truly tender Tinder Twisted at the tasty dinner And a teensy-tiny whisper, “too tactful of a texter”, Then two take the twinkled tango Of a toxic tech together

Amphetamine sleeps on the beach While little blond kids handstand, scream Trying to balance on the buoys And the lifeguard vomits from their throne like “Dude, does anyone else feel sick from that pizza?” Another rakes sand to pass the time, a garden game of chess against the wind Combing over dead fish to the children’s delight Clouds cast shadows the shape of shame The sun’s been getting sleepier these days, Weening off the uppers In fact, everyone up there is trying to quit the stuff They made a pact, they’re having meetings and everything “I just never thought I’d lose control like this” says one far off star They’re attempting to be respectful and keep the dopesick spit up acid rain within the rim of the lake But some splashes on the beach, dampening my feet And the waves lapping on the rocks feel like responses to my thoughts Mostly, they’re saying, “No. Starting your period with the New Moon does not make you a sorceress. This, it can happen to anyone."

Wake up! It's amphetamine christmas! Get up! You don’t wanna miss this! It’s the day you get to go to the pharmacy They'll see you walking down the street with a skip in your feet Talkin' a lot to everyone that you meet Oh, they’ll find you lost at the library Your apartment was messy, now it will be clean! But when you come down, you might be feelin kinda mean It's okay cause there’ll be more tomorrow! Before this week, you were feelin kinda low You were sleeping a lot and thinking pretty slow Gone are those days, you haven't slept for 80 hours! All your work is done, your shoes are even shined You solved one crossword and then you solved 29 Your fingers tapped 4 holes into the table! Wake up! It's amphetamine christmas! Get up! You don’t wanna miss this! It’s the day you get to go to the pharmacy You dropped a glass on your floor and made a sculpture with the slivers You choreographed a modern dance to remedy your shivers You weren’t hungry for the meal you cooked, so you took it to the woods and fed all of the creatures Yet here you are...the week is over now 3 weeks left in the month but your prescription has run out I guess caffeine will have to get you through Oh ADHD baby maybe there’s another way to fix this But if you quit the stuff, I know how much you’d miss it Whatever you do, just know I’m here for you! Wake up! It's amphetamine christmas! Get up! You don’t wanna miss this! It’s the day you get to go to the pharmacy Its the day you get to go to the pharmacy!

The shameless self-starter stole the sheepish servant’s sweetest sugar Did the shameless self-starter steal the sheepish servants sweetest sugar? The shady sheriff says the sheepish servant’s simply squealing sinful slander If the shameless self-starter didn’t steal the sheepish servant’s sweetest sugar, Then where is the servant’s sugar that was seized From the sheepish servant’s secret safe?

City Spells 02:09
The city, a cycle It swells with heat and spits up bile Roaming packs of plastic bags Caught up in winds that spin for miles Inside our lives, inside the framework One can find countless containers Bits of organic scraps in piles Make homes for little lives to hide in Folks idly chat of needing nature Feeling apart of something greater But the open sky’s a scary mass In the shadow of imminent collapse Everyone can sense a looming apocalypse The sun’s getting tired of floating on top of us Aliens are waiting for a crack in our core Watching 'til we lose sight of what we’re living for The grid’s so big that people lose their minds Smog in the sky throws off our count of time Tiny birds can live in the thickness of a cloud When it gets too crowded liquid plastic rains down I don't know what to tell you! I don't know what to tell you! We are floating in a vacuum One slice of bread baked in Carl Sagan’s kitchen Looking in a microscope wont tell us what were missing Cause the city is a cycle That spins round and round Skyscrapers climb up, locals get kicked out At the very top of the tallest building There are hungry humans fishing Snatching up the empty lots To fill their soul’s big empty spots I don't know what to tell you I don't know what to tell you I once found god lurking in a chatroom He told me he was searching for his next big design Asked my age, sex, & location then he signed offline The city is a cycle That spins round and round Skyscrapers climb up, trees get knocked down Autumn leaves they fall and make confetti that surrounds Mothers building nests made of plastic strewn on the ground Towering creations change one’s sense of the sublime Old statues overwhelmed with the grandeur of time Crumbling constructions, remind us of the endless chase What doesn’t last forever just fades and gets replaced The city, a cycle It swells with heat and spits up bile Roaming packs of plastic bags Caught up in winds that spin for miles

Terrible 00:40
As the terrible trump talked tactlessly of taxing tea, His towering temper was tacked to a tree Twigs tore tweed, threads trailing, untwilling And the two-timing trickster tripped over a trunk, Toes stubbed and trapped on his knees, The tiny teary trump pleads “tree o tree, why me?”

The good good dog didn’t dream of getting on When the governing god declared dapper doggies don’t dabble in undignified doodles Now, newly no regard for the governing god The good good dog’s getting going down the dunes, Digger deeper, drawing diptychs, dancing to doom tunes in a dark room at dawn The good dog reckons when the Guggenheim’s gone, Dapper doggies do need dum-dum dazzle doodles to keep on

Three Apples 02:24
The day the pagans lost the sun I saw but didn't tell no one They were gathered round the trees Singing “shine bright” through the leaves The men in robes and fancy clothes, They’d been silent in their homes Plotting how to overthrow This honest worship for their own I heard them scheming in my dreams Knew the truth but didn’t want to believe So when they built up their domes to shut out the sun We were scared and we were stunned The day the pagans lost the sun I saw but didn't tell no one We were gathered round the trees Singing “shine bright” through the leaves They lined us all up, one by one Made a point to show us their gear and guns They blocked our roads, oh they made such a fuss They yelled “get on the ground and pray with us!” But they didn’t know about the our secret plan To never get stomped out by the evil man We had magic dances hiding up our sleeves We all spun and turned to mice on the count of three You see mice are special because they multiply They’ve got strength in numbers on their side A mouse can master how to jump really high So that’s what we did, we jumped those bad guys! We grabbed onto their backs and bit their thyroid glands We punched their nazi faces with our tiny mouse hands We really got em good like Pow! Bang! Boom! Wham! They screamed “we’re so sorry” and they ran and ran and ran The day the pagans lost the sun I saw but didn't tell no one We were gathered round the trees Singing “shine bright” thru the leaves After the whole ordeal went down Things were pretty different around that town Word spread faster than cat can lick its ass And nobody messed with mouses habitats The day the pagan’s lost the sun The world felt so dark and cold the whole time it was gone But the good folks got it back in not too long Because their vision was clear, and the resistance was strong The day the pagans lost the sun I saw but didn’t tell no one And from the sky fell 3 apples, one for you and one for me And one for the idea of always feeling free
